Remembering Abhishek

Before I begin sharing my thoughts I would like to pay my respect to my dear friend Abhishek who passed away last month due to renal failure.

Abhishek and I were so similar and yet different. He was very simple and mistakenly assumed as ordinary which he was not. He was exceptionally talented – an excellent writer, an eloquent speaker and academically brilliant. He was a friend you would treasure.
I met him at Career Launcher in Allahabad two years ago. We were preparing for CAT together at that time. I took him to be any ordinary guy and as very rarely likes attract each other we started sharing a bond which was strengthened by the similarities we had. I learnt a lot from him. His determination to struggle and fight it out taught me not to give up till it is over. He taught me how to do ‘multitasking’, how to take time out for everything and most importantly, how to reach out to others.

He is no more with us but his memories will always be with us. I am glad he died fighting and though I couldn’t see him during his last rites I am sure he must have had a smile on his face. I won’t shed a tear for him because he is a winner and in the short period of time he was here in this world he proved that success and humility could go together.
